October is the month of wonderful fall weather, delicious pumpkin spice lattes, and Halloween! Which means it’s the time of year where Haunted Houses are garnering all the attention! And the Greater Houston area happens to have a rather impressive lineup!
Rave reviews, topnotch facilities, and actors are what lures you to the Creepy Hollow Haunted House and the scares and spooks are what send you running. Creepy Hollow has been voted the scariest haunted house in Texas. In fact, it’s so scary some adults don’t make it all the way through. In addition to their scare attractions, they also have sideshows! Dancers at their voodoo lounge or blazing fire shows are sure to keep you entertained. You can even try their escape room with 9 of your friends should you feel brave enough.
Fearshire Farms is so terrifying it made it onto the Travel Channel’s Halloween’s Craziest. It is a real haunted house built in the early 1900s located in a cornfield that’s been converted into a maze for scare-seekers so the spookiness is a little more authentic than your traditional jump-scare attractions. Grab a fear pass and you get access to the Fun House, the Corn Maze, and the Haunted House. They have concessions available so you can grab some s’mores by the bonfire to settle your pulse, but, that doesn’t mean you’re safe. Keep in mind that active military, police, fire and EMS all get free admission!
Phobia is located in its own Scream Park on Beltway 8. Bigger and better than ever before as of 2015, this is the intense haunted house park you hear all the hype about on the radio. You aren’t safe from fear as early as the moment you step out of your car. Fantastic actors, excellent props, and decorations inhabit a whopping total of 6 attractions, each offering its own horrifying brand of terror. If you plan on visiting Phobia, don’t forget to print out your online coupons from their website.
Kingwood Asylum is as impressive as it is scary. The accolades speak volumes about this venue as it was crowned the scariest haunted house in Texas (2016), the 3rd scariest in the nation (2015) and 5th scariest in the nation (2016). Even though it is a smaller venue than most in the Houston area, this particular location is known for its meticulous attention to detail, creativity, and actors’ commitment to a truly frightening experience. We do want to give you a fair warning: this is an immensely popular haunted house so come prepared for a bit of a wait.
When scaring has become a profession, you might be at ScreamWord! Similar to Phobia, you get access to five haunted attractions with a single ticket. This park is the epitome of a haunted house attraction. The lines are well managed so you won’t wait long, parking is quick, the property is well maintained, food vendors are available and the scares never stop. Also, make sure you enter the contest on their website for a chance at a haunted limo ride to and from ScreamWorld with VIP tickets.
