Thanksgiving is nearly upon us and with it come the delicious feasts that fill our bellies and our hearts. On this holiday, it’s important to remember that not all of us are as fortunate. Help share the love, warmth, and security of a good meal this Thanksgiving break by giving a little of your time to one of the events or organizations listed below. Together we can make a difference!

TXU Energy Turkey Trot

There’s still time to register for this 26 year old Thanksgiving tradition! This year’s theme is #HOUareStronger as it celebrates Houston’s grit in the face of Hurricane Harvey and our drive to keep improving as a city. You can participate and support the city of Houston by volunteering, donating, or by marching your way through a 10k, 5k or the kids’ run.

Thanksgiving Super Feast

All hands on deck! Last year, the Super Feast of Houston served 2.1 million people in need and is expecting just as many visitors this year. Held annually on Thanksgiving Day at the George R. Brown Convention Center, millions of people come to be served with warm food and to get clothing, flu shots, haircuts and many other needed supplies. There’s even a job fair and information on affordable housing and education. It’s truly an awe-inspiring event that you can volunteer for and be a part of!

Operation Turkey

Operation Turkey’s goal is to bring communities together to feed and clothe the homeless and less fortunate on Thanksgiving Day. With multiple events across the greater Houston area, the scope of this event is truly impressive as it reaches all the corners of our city. They tweeted about needing more volunteers recently so get out there and lend a hand!
