Betty Byrd has a special affinity for Houston. A lifelong resident of Bellaire, she attended Condit Elementary, Pershing Middle School and Bellaire High School before graduating with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston. Growing up with the city, she has witnessed it’s dynamic development and is proud to be a continued part of it.
Betty began her real estate career in 1971, working with her father, Henry Hodell, at the real estate company he established in 1939. In July 1997, twenty years after Betty took over management, Hodell-Byrd Properties joined forces with Heritage Texas Properties. The merger brought together the experience and expertise of two longtime real estate firms to provide superior service marked by honesty and integrity in a friendly, professional atmosphere.
The last few years have been great ones for Houston and very successful for Betty who excels at providing personal attention to the individual needs of each client. Her attention to customer service has helped her achieve top producer status. She is proud to have ranked many times among the top five and ten producers at Heritage Texas Properties’ Post Oak Park office.
Betty was instrumental in working with the City of Bellaire to encourage builders and buyers to appreciate the benefits of living in Bellaire. She is proud to point out that she has come full circle and has sold new construction in some of the same areas in which her father specialized more than 50 years ago.
Betty has served on the Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and as chairman of Business and Economic Development, as well as participating with the Leadership 20/20 program and numerous committees. She has also worked with the City of Bellaire, the Bellaire Planning and Zoning Commission, the Bellaire Boulevard Beautification Committee, and the Bellaire High School Shared Decision Making Committee. She is a founding member of the Friends and Alumni of Bellaire High School.
More recently, Betty put down new roots in The Woodlands, although she continues to cultivate the “garden" of devoted clients she developed in Bellaire over her long and successful career. Active in both communities, she enjoys participating in Bellaire’s Fun Run, Holiday in the Park, and their many other events, as well as The Woodlands’ “Lighting of the Doves” celebration .
Betty has also served on the Arbitration and Ethics Committee of the Houston Association of Realtors®.
