A “naturalized” Houstonian with Midwestern roots, Julie Vander Wert initially moved here to be closer to her now husband. Before that, Julie, who was born and raised in Pella, Iowa, had moved around a lot and lived in cities all across the United States.
First there were biomed studies at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, after which Julie enrolled in medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. But, rather than accepting a residency, Julie chose to work with a medical devices company training physicians, assisting in problem solving, guiding procedures in the operating room, and developing programs for the sales team to initiate and close sales.
Between school and her work, Julie has moved to and lived in Cedar Falls and Des Moines, Iowa, Kansas City and Springfield, Missouri, Chicago, Illinois, Orlando and Miami, Florida, and Dallas, Texas, before relocating to Houston. Like many real estate professionals before her, it was those many moves that piqued her interest and inspired her to become a Realtor – and, in the process, helped her build up a wealth of experience that is of tremendous help to her clients today.
All of that relocation also instilled in Julie the belief that every client is important and deserves her undivided time and energy. That means personally being there for every facet of their transaction. She strives to make each buyer or seller her top priority and stay involved every step of the way, for whatever her client may need. She wants her clients to see her as a trusted professional, but also as someone who truly cares about their well-being and always keeps their best interests at heart.
To her, integrity is everything. She has experienced sales first hand and understands how important that relationship is - you have to be trustworthy, personable, smart, effective, a go-getter, and very reliable. She is a self-starter, has endurance, can handle high-stress situations and all kinds of personalities.
In 2011, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, whom she had not seen or spoken to in 15 years. One year later, she moved to Houston to be with him, and a year after that, they were married! Julie loves travel, road trips and most outdoor activities, but says her favorite occasions are date nights with her husband.
