"There are people who make things happen, there are people who watch things happen, and there are people who wonder what happened. To be successful, you need to be a person who makes things happen."
Robert F. (Bobby) Anderson, Jr., has been making great things happen in Houston for most of his adult life. As an original member of the team that created the Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research, Bobby was an integral part of building and funding ground-breaking cancer treatments and research for more than four decades. He participated in many of the treatment and research protocols that changed forever the course of cancer therapy. Listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who Among Top Executives, and Who's Who in Professionals, he also served as a director on the development board of Tanglewood Bank for eight years. Bobby retired as president of CHRISTUS Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research in May, 2014, and left a legacy of unparalleled accomplishment in advancing medicine through innovative direction, business development and fund raising.
After a brief hiatus, Bobby entered a second full-time career as a Realtor with Heritage Texas Properties. His highly-developed interpersonal skills, business and marketing acumen, and enviable network of professional and personal connections form a strong foundation for building continued success for himself and his clients. "I've had exceptional opportunities in my life and been privileged to work with a terrific staff whose average tenure exceeded 20 years. They played an integral role in my success, and without them none of my accomplishments would have been possible. My transition into residential real estate sales brings that same quality of success to each of my sellers and buyers."
"I place communication, trustworthiness, conscientiousness, and hard work as my best qualities," Bobby continues. "Good communication is based on truthfulness and trust, and involves 85 percent listening and 15 percent speaking. Creating an honest, trusting relationship with each client, and treating each client with respect and courtesy, are my number-one priorities. That approach has always made my professional relationships strong and enduring."
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Houston from the age of eight, Bobby graduated from Mirabeau B. Lamar High School and the University of Texas at Austin. He and his wife, Sally, are 30-year-plus residents of the Memorial area where they raised their daughter and son. Their daughter received her undergraduate degree in communications from Southern Methodist University and later earned her master's degree in education. She and her family currently live in Birmingham, Alabama. After earning a degree in finance from the University of Alabama, their son received his master's degree in accounting. He practices in Houston. Whenever they can, Sally and Bobby enjoy family activities and spending time at their vacation homes in Lakeway, Texas and Seagrove Beach, Florida.
