Tomball West

Located just 23 miles northwest of downtown Houston lies the City of Tomball, Texas, a great town with a small “country” feel and large, open spaces surrounded by towering trees and winding roads.

     Although close to Houston, Tomball is far from being a suburb and has been around for over 90 years, first as a railroad town, and later as an oil town. In 1907, the community was named in honor of State Senator Thomas Henry Ball because of his influence in establishing Tomball as a railroad center for the transport of agricultural products. In 1933, an oil boom hit when a 100 foot gusher was brought in, attracting hundreds of newcomers. Local residents received free natural gas for over 50 years in exchange for exclusive rights by Humble Oil and Gas to drill within the city.        

     These days, real estate in Tomball is truly having an impact on home sales in North Houston. Highway 249that extends well past Tomball, has now been extended, luring even more visitors to this quiet community. Many new builder subdivisions have begun to appear throughout the town and older subdivisions steadily increase in value from the new influx of buyers to the area.
